Dalmia Bharat Ltd. (DBL) has laid the foundation stone for its second manufacturing unit in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, marking a major step in its expansion plans with a INR 3,100 crore investment in a next generation integrated cement manufacturing facility.

The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, Real Time Governance and Human Resources Development, Nara Lokesh, along with Dalmia Bharat Managing Director and CEO Puneet Dalmia, senior government officials and company executives.

The new manufacturing unit has been designed to produce one of the world's greenest cements and will operate on more than 80 percent renewable power while recycling all of its water. The project forms part of the company's expansion plans announced in 2025.

Scheduled for commissioning by the third quarter of FY28, the Kadapa facility will become Dalmia Bharat's largest integrated manufacturing unit in southern India. It will have a clinker production capacity of 6.1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and a cement manufacturing capacity of 9.6 MTPA. The project is expected to generate around 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Speaking at the event, Nara Lokesh said that Andhra Pradesh views Dalmia Bharat as a strong partner in its vision of building a globally competitive and sustainable industrial economy. He said that the investment would create jobs, strengthen the state's industrial base, empower local communities and support green, technology driven growth.

Puneet Dalmia said that Andhra Pradesh has been an important part of the company's growth journey for more than a decade. He attributed the fresh investment to the state's transparent governance, policy stability, strong infrastructure and business friendly environment under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

He added that the new facility reflects Dalmia Bharat's long term vision of redefining cement manufacturing for a low carbon future by establishing a next generation manufacturing ecosystem focused on sustainability, efficiency and environmentally responsible production.

Dalmia Bharat said that it remains the first cement company globally to commit to the RE100, EP100 and EV100 initiatives. The company also plans to expand its community development programmes in education, healthcare, skill development and rural welfare through its flagship CSR initiatives, DIKSHa and Gram Parivartan. The expansion is also expected to create business opportunities for local MSMEs, transporters, contractors and service providers across the region.
