CSTEP signs MoU with BESCOM & KREDL on Renewable Energy for 5 years
Will be the knowledge partner for various policy and technology research

CSTEP has announced that it has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BESCOM (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company) and KREDL (Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd) to pursue high impact research projects in the area of Renewable Energy, to further its uptake at the state and national levels.
Some of the studies proposed in the MoU include:
1. Roadmap for 6 GW solar and 10 GW wind for Karnataka
2. Development of a GIS-based Rooftop PV (RTPV) tool along with an RTPV policy roadmap for Karnataka
The duration of this MoU is 5 years and CSTEP will be the knowledge partner for various policy and technology research.
In the past, KREDL and CSTEP have collaborated (in terms of stakeholder consultations and seeking expert inputs) to do studies related to Karnataka's sustainable energy policies. These include Rooftop PV policy assessment, Reassessment of Karnataka's wind energy potential and Climate Parliament funded RE-energising Karnataka.
CSTEP and BESCOM have also collaborated in the past in the Rooftop PV policy assessment and net-metering scheme. Other collaborative projects between CSTEP and BESCOM include the ongoing 'Design and Development of Smart Energy Grid Architecture' project funded by Department of Science and Technology, 24x7 Power in Karnataka and IT Analysis Roadmap
