HUSUM Wind is the established meeting place of the wind industry and this year is the biggest wind energy trade fair in the world: from 12 to 15 September the fair is attracting trade visitors and experts from all areas of the wind industry.
Over 650 exhibitors are showing at HUSUM Wind. As well as well-known industry giants, this year’s exhibitor list also shows many young and innovative enterprises. In addition to the exhibition, with a large number of events, the parallel HUSUM Wind Congress also provides the opportunity to find out about and discuss current industry topics. On the four days of the fair there are 40 forums, workshops, panel discussions and seminars. These events include the forums on sector coupling & grid integration, the innovation and offshore forum, and on the last day of the fair Windcareer. Prospective candidate for the Bundestag Dr Ingrid Nestle (BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN), Prof Volker Quaschning (HTW Berlin), Dr Peter Röttgen (new managing director of the German Renewable Energy Association), and Jochen Magerfleisch (managing director of Senvion Germany) are just a few of the high-calibre guests.
These congress events will not only give an insight into technical innovations, but also into current events in business and politics. Such an event is the lecture The Blue – Expert Talk 2017 in the Boxing Ring – The Tendering Model on Trial, which is being given on Thursday 14 September 2017, from 16:30 to 17:45. The lecture picks up on the potential for discussion shortly after the second bidding round, and shows how regional distribution of the successful projects needs to be shaped so that the diversity of players and wind energy expansion can be secured in future.
Attention should also be drawn to the annual conference Wind-Updates.NRW 2017. “We are particularly pleased that North Rhine-Westphalia is our partner state this year”, says Thomas Seifried, project manager for HUSUM Wind. “The partner state is not only the biggest exhibitor at the fair this year. Due to the state partnership, the annual conference of the North Rhine-Westphalian Energy Agency’s wind energy network is also being held in Husum for the first time. The conference is a great enrichment for the congress programme.” The event on Wednesday 13 September 2017, 14:00 to 17:30, is open to all those visitors who are interested in using the opportunity to find out more about the North Rhine-Westphalian wind industry.
The HUSUM Wind Congress also includes many events on subjects such as big data and digitalisation in wind power, safety concepts, successful wind farm planning, possibilities for public involvement, communal wind farms, crowd financing, sector coupling and repowering. Interesting excursions are also available, such as a visit to the offshore heliport in Husum-Schwesing.
