Coal India, NLC India Renewables Win NHPC’s 1,200 MW Solar Auction in Uttar Pradesh
NHPC's auction for 1,200 MW of solar capacity at the Jalaun Solar Power Park in Uttar Pradesh discovered a lowest tariff of INR 2.73/kWh, with NLC India Renewables and Coal India winning 600 MW each.

NHPC’s auction to develop four solar plants with a cumulative capacity of 1,200 MW (4x300 MW) at Jalaun Solar Power Park in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh has attracted an L1 tariff (lowest bid) of INR 2.73/kWh.
NLC India Renewables (NIRL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NLC India, and Coal India have emerged as winners, with both bagging 600 MW each at a tariff of INR 2.73/kWh.
Both the companies have also received a Letter of Award from Bundelkhand Saur Urja, a joint venture of NHPC and Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), for setting up 600 MW (2x300 MW) solar power projects, each, at Jalaun Solar Power Park in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh.
Coal India, in a regulatory filing, mentioned that the project is expected to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the power purchase agreement (PPA), at an estimated cost of INR 2831.11 crore.
The tender for this was issued in July 2025.
The modules used in the project shall be sourced only from the models and manufacturers included in List-I under the 'Approved List of Models and Manufacturers' as published by MNRE.
The declared annual AC capacity utilisation factor (CUF) must not be less than 26 percent.
