Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Shree Cement’s new 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) grinding unit at Nigoh Hasanpur in Etah. Built with an investment of around INR 1,000 crore, the plant is one of the largest cement grinding units in the state and features a 40 MW solar power facility.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior political leaders, including MLAs from Etah, Aliganj, Jalesar, and Marhara, alongside Shree Cement’s Chairman H. M. Bangur and Managing Director Neeraj Akhoury.
The facility is designed with advanced German technology, robust pollution control systems, and zero-waste operations, underscoring Shree Cement’s focus on sustainable manufacturing. To promote circular economy practices, the plant has contracted 15 lakh tonnes of fly ash annually from the adjoining Jawaharpur Thermal Power Plant. Covered raw material storage and air-cooled screw compressors have been installed to reduce dust and water consumption.
Highlighting its social commitment, Shree Cement announced a INR 5 crore investment to establish a medical school and hospital in the region, in addition to education and infrastructure development in nearby Nigoh Hasanpur village, which will directly benefit 2,500 residents.
“The inauguration of our Etah unit marks an important milestone in our journey with Uttar Pradesh,” said Neeraj Akhoury, MD, Shree Cement. “This facility not only creates jobs and strengthens local industries but also reinforces our commitment to sustainability and community development," he added.
With this launch, Shree Cement has further expanded its footprint in Uttar Pradesh, where it already operates plants in Bulandshahr and Lucknow and has upcoming projects in Noida, Prayagraj, and Gorakhpur. More than 60 percent of the company’s power needs are met through renewable sources like solar and wind, positioning it among the world’s most eco-friendly cement manufacturers.
