Cleantech Solar Signs Group Captive Solar PPA with Sona Comstar in Tamil Nadu

Cleantech Solar has signed a power purchase agreement with Sona Comstar to supply renewable energy on a group captive basis from its open access solar park in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

Cleantech Solar has announced the signing of a power purchase agreement (PPA) with mobility technology manufacturer Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar).
 
As part of the agreement, Sona Comstar will procure power on a group captive basis from Cleantech Solar’s open access solar park in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, the company stated.

Earlier this month, Cleantech Solar entered into a 9 MWp PPA with Bonfiglioli India to supply solar power from its open access project in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
 
Last month, Carborundum Universal entered into a power purchase agreement with Putrim Renewables, a special purpose vehicle of Cleantech Solar, to source power from an 18 MW solar project located in Thoothukudi.
 
In May 2025, Cleantech Solar announced the commissioning of its anchor open access solar PV projects totalling ~80 MWp for industrial customers at its state-of-the-art 275 MWp solar park in Tamil Nadu. It was the company’s fifth renewable energy park in the state.
 
In April 2025, the company announced the commissioning of anchor open access solar PV projects for blue-chip industrial customers at its state-of-the-art 100 MWp solar park in Maharashtra – its seventh renewable energy park in the state.
 
Headquartered in Singapore, Cleantech Solar has numerous solar and wind hybrid projects across India and Southeast Asia, covering approximately 1.2 GWp of assets in operations, construction and development stages. This includes installations in India, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
