Chandigarh Power Distribution Appoints Brajesh Kumar as CEO

Chandigarh Power Distribution Ltd. (CPDL), an RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group company, has appointed Brajesh Kumar as its Chief Executive Officer to lead power distribution operations serving over 1.2 million consumers in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Brajesh Kumar has recently been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Chandigarh Power Distribution Ltd. (CPDL), an RP-Sanjiv Goenka (RPSG) Group company.
 
CPDL took over power distribution in the Union Territory of Chandigarh on February 1, 2025, following privatisation. It caters to a population of over 1.2 million residents.
 
Before assuming his present role at CPDL, Kumar served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Senior Executive Vice President at BSES Yamuna Power Ltd. (BYPL).
 
Over the last 30 years, Kumar has distinguished himself in leadership roles in various companies, contributing significantly to the operational and strategic growth of the departments under him.
 
An MBA from the Delhi Productivity Council, Kumar began his professional journey in sales and marketing with organisations such as Hindalco (Aditya Birla Group), Sterlite (Vedanta Group) and Jindal Steel and Power, before transitioning into the power sector with BYPL, followed by CPDL.
 
Strong business acumen, customer-centric approach and acute understanding of emerging technologies are his forte. He leads by example and is known for his insightful strategic planning, market penetration, business development and proactive leadership, stated the company.
 
Under Kumar’s leadership, BYPL saw significant advancements in loss reduction, digital transformation, consumer service enhancement, and the adoption of emerging technologies like rooftop solar systems, EV charging infrastructure and smart metering.
 
Kumar brings with him a wealth of experience in diverse fields ranging from industries such as aluminium and steel to telecom and power distribution. He has successfully engaged with a wide range of customer segments, including electrical, OEMs, automotive, consumer goods, EV charging point operators (CPOs), and retail trade networks.
