Centrica extends Romax’s contract

Contract was to monitor an additional 464MW of installed offshore wind turbines

February 25, 2014. By Moulin

Romax has been chosen by Centrica Energy’s asset integrity team to provide an independent performance and condition monitoring service for three  offshore wind sites; Lincs, Lynn and Inner Dowsing, just off the Lincolnshire coast.

With rising operations and maintenance costs on offshore wind turbines, putting in place a strategy to schedule maintenance and predict failure modes on turbines is more important than ever.

Romax is providing turbine health assessments and on-going condition monitoring analysis using vibration, SCADA and maintenance data to the 3.6 MW machines across the three Centrica Energy sites. Analysis is conducted with the expertise of Romax engineers and also its InSight platform, which maximizes the up-time of turbines by providing early warnings of drivetrain failures and is used on a large number of wind farms globally.

Nigel Parlor, Romax’s Contract Relationship Manager adds: “Romax engineers are not just able to understand advanced diagnostics, the signals given by wind turbines that are having problems and the implications these have for on-going reliability. Working with customers, we seek to map out time-scales in which problems can be fixed and to deliver all our analytics in a format that translates to clear actions. As a world-leading provider of wind turbine analytics, we pride ourselves in our ability to deliver a highly technical, yet easy-to-understand analysis and we’re glad that customers like Centrica Energy see the value in this approach.”
