Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Discoms Association (AIDA) to collaborate on strengthening India’s electricity distribution sector through joint research and capacity-building initiatives focused on clean, reliable and affordable power systems.
Under the partnership, both organisations will work together on key areas including harmonised resource adequacy planning, cost-effective grid integration of distributed renewable energy, consumer-centric smart meter rollout and data utilisation, as well as retail electricity tariff design for large consumers.
The collaboration aims to support electricity distribution companies (discoms) in addressing emerging operational and planning challenges amid India’s accelerating energy transition. The initiative will also focus on improving grid resilience, enhancing sustainability and enabling modernisation across the power distribution ecosystem.
“This partnership would leverage the collective strength of CEEW and AIDA to support India’s electricity distribution sector’s journey towards modernisation, resilience and sustainability,” stated CEEW.
Earlier this month, the AIDA signed an MoU with the Virginia-based Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG) to bring global expertise and technical collaboration to India’s power distribution sector.
In March 2026, AIDA signed an MoU with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet to collaborate on the India Grids of the Future Accelerator initiative aimed at modernising and digitalising the country’s power distribution networks.
