Capgemini has announced that the company has implemented a sustainability-focused initiative by transitioning cafeteria kitchens across its India offices from Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to Bio-CNG (biogas).
By adopting Bio-CNG across its campuses, the company is enabling a cleaner energy model for its cafeteria operations while reducing dependence on fossil fuels, the company stated.
The initiative reinforces a circular economy approach by converting organic waste into usable energy. This not only minimises waste but also contributes to sustainable resource utilisation and lower emissions. The company’s Energy Command Center (ECC), a global-first initiative implemented in India, uses IoT technology to monitor and optimise energy consumption across campuses, improving operational efficiency and sustainability performance.
Capgemini’s Bengaluru campus has become the first corporate campus in India to receive the Net Zero Energy – Platinum certification from the Indian Green Building Council, recognising its ability to generate as much energy as it consumes, stated the company.
