BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. (BRPL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GIZ India to introduce Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), advanced inverter technologies, and innovative solar applications across BRPL’s distribution grid.
The partnership will focus on implementing pilot projects that demonstrate advanced storage and solar applications, conducting policy and regulatory studies to aid renewable integration, and delivering capacity-building programmes to upskill BRPL’s workforce.
“As one of the world’s fastest-growing megacities, Delhi faces increasing challenges in delivering clean, reliable, and affordable power to its citizens. Rising demand, coupled with the need for decarbonisation, is driving utilities to adopt innovative solutions that can strengthen grid resilience and accelerate renewable integration,” GIZ India said in a social media post.
The collaboration is expected to benefit millions of consumers by enabling smarter and more sustainable energy solutions for the city, it added.
“Our shared goal is to support India's ambitious Renewable Energy target of achieving 500 GW from non-fossil sources by 2030, driving tangible change through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable action on the ground,” stated GIZ India.
It further added, “Together, we contribute directly to the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership between India and Germany by enabling smarter Renewable Energy integration, strengthening local capacities, and promoting climate-resilient urban infrastructure.”
