British Solar Renewables (BSR) has achieved financial close on a GBP 345 million debt facility to support a 609 MW portfolio of solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across the UK.

As per the firm, the  deal is one of the largest hybrid renewable energy financings ever completed in the country. The portfolio, comprising 12 co-located solar and BESS projects, is expected to generate approximately 600 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power around 160,000 homes and reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 140,000 tonnes each year.

This significant investment contributes directly to the UK’s legally binding net zero targets and reinforces the government’s ambition to become a 'Clean Energy Superpower.' As energy security becomes an increasingly urgent priority, the projects are set to play a key role in delivering reliable, renewable power while also stimulating local economies and supporting community development.

The GBP 345 million senior, flexible debt facility was arranged with support from a consortium of leading financial institutions, including Lloyds Bank, NatWest, Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW). Legal advisory for the transaction was provided by Bracewell LLP.

Michael Ozersky, Chief Investment Officer at BSR, called the financial close a 'major milestone' and praised the strength of the company’s co-location strategy. “This financing highlights our innovative approach to delivering clean, reliable power at scale. We’re proud to play our part in driving the UK’s energy transition,” he said.

BSR has developed a strong reputation as a vertically integrated independent power producer. The company manages the full lifecycle of renewable energy assets, from sourcing and design to construction, operation, and maintenance, ensuring long-term value and environmental stewardship.

Through its Nature Protection Pledge and other biodiversity initiatives, BSR continues to prioritise sustainability and community engagement across its portfolio.

“We are proud to support this landmark transaction and to have the trust of such a strong group of lenders,” said Ozersky. “It underscores the credibility of BSR as a leading renewable energy platform and reflects our shared commitment to meaningful decarbonisation," he added.

With this financing secured, BSR is set to accelerate its near-term project delivery and strengthen its contribution to a cleaner, greener, and more resilient energy landscape in Britain.
