BluSmart, the Indian electric-only ride service provider, announced its ground breaking achievement as the first Indian EV cab firm to receive carbon credit accreditation. Verra, a global non-profit corporation, certified BluSmart's emission-free operations, leading to a significant reduction in carbon-dioxide emissions.
Anmol Singh Jaggi, CEO, and Co-founder of BluSmart, expressed the company's commitment, saying, "As the first mobility company in India to achieve carbon credit accreditation, BluSmart reaffirms its commitment to the mission to decarbonize mobility at scale. We will continue to work towards building a business that benefits both people and the planet. Initiatives such as these are vital to incentivize environmentally conscious practices and promote a sustainable lifestyle through market-based mechanisms.
BluSmart operates a fleet of over 5000 EVs in two major urban centres in India, namely Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. The company has completed over 300 million all-electric kilometres since its inception, facilitating 9.5 million fully electric trips. The carbon estimation for this project was crucial, and Fair Climate Fund India, the carbon consultant, played a pivotal role in helping BluSmart achieve this feat in record time.
BluSmart provides city rides in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru, along with dedicated airport pick-ups and drops in both cities. The company commenced operations in Bengaluru in September 2022 and was founded in 2019 by Anmol Singh Jaggi and Punit K Goyal.
In the previous year, BluSmart secured a USD 50 million in Series A fundraising, earmarked for rapid expansion across Delhi NCR and other metro cities.
