Bihar Takes a Breakthrough Step Towards Solar Power Installation
The tourist towns of Rajgir and Bodh Gaya, as it inked a power sale agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), to buy 210 MW of renewable energy.

Significant tourist destinations of Bihar such as Rajgir, Bodh Gaya and Vaishali along with government offices in Patna will commence assimilating power supply through solar energy from the year 2024.
Bihar has installed solar plants on 2,300 government buildings whereas 8,000 more have been recognized for fixing the units.
In order to supply 24x7 green power to its tourist towns of Rajgir and Bodh Gaya, as it inked a power sale agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), to buy 210 MW of renewable energy.
Sanjeev Hans, Bihar’s Principal Secretary, Energy, and also the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL) stated “Bihar has opted for a bundle power plan, using solar energy during the day and hydel power through pump storage facility in the evening to meet its full requirement of clean power for Rajgir and Bodh Gaya”.
Earlier, Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) has built the state’s first two MW floating solar power plant in Darbhanga, Bihar,
These projects and initiatives are part of efforts to absorb as well as to create mass awareness about solar energy. Remarking the agreement as a milestone step, consolidated pledge and desire to attain the national commitment towards renewable energy development.
