BHEL Offers Tender for 1.6 MW Solar Projects for its Facilities in Visakhapatnam

BHEL plans to set up a 1.6 MW solar PV project as a part of its initiatives towards transformation into a ‘Green’ company.

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has released a 1.6 MW solar photovoltaic tender on a 'Build Own Operate and Maintain' basis.

The public sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise is seeking a developer to set up a grid connected solar PV plant at the heavy plates and vessels plant (HPVP) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The tender proposes net meeting arrangements for 1 MW for the factory and 0.6 MW for the township.

The successful bidder will be required to construct the solar PV project, including a power evacuation network up to the designated point in BHEL, HPVP, Visakhapatnam campus.

The developer will also own, operate, and maintain the project for 25 years with BHEL under a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the purchase of solar power for a period of 25 years as per the terms, conditions and provisions of the NIT.

The land for the project shall be provided on a right-to-use basis to the developer free of cost. The eligible bidders can apply for the solar photovoltaic tender on July 12, 2024, and are required to submit the document on the same day. The eligible bidders will deposit an earnest money of INR 2 million (USD 24,400).

The solar power developer (SPD) will be responsible for all associated works, such as permissions from APEPDCL for setting up 1 MW and 0.6 MW capacities in the factory and township with net metering arrangements, payments to APEDPCL and a feasibility report, clearing of vegetation, levelling, civil works, etc.

The bidding developers should be Indian-based companies or the overseas companies with an Indian subsidiary. The bidders must have experience installing and operating ground-mounted solar plants of a minimum 2 MW capacity.

The net worth of the bidders must be INR 25 million (USD 312,000) as of FY 2021-22 or 2022-23, with an annual turnover of INR 10 million (USD 120,000) in FY 2022-23 or 2023-24.
