BHEL and IGL Collaborate to Manufacture Special Cylinders for Hydrogen Use
The two firms will work together on integrating hydrogen into city gas distribution (CGD) and manufacturing power backup systems composed of fuel cells.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate for the advancement, production, and application of Type-IV cylinders able of depositing both CNG and hydrogen.
The two firms will work together on integrating hydrogen into city gas distribution (CGD) and manufacturing power backup systems composed of fuel cells.
The agreement was inked by IGL V-P Sanjeev Kumar Bhatia and BHEL GM marketing S. Prabhakar in the existence of Pawan Kumar, IGL Director (Commercial), and Nalin Singhal (BHEL Chairman).
IGL cited that the agreement on Type-IV cylinders will access new path for alliance in the hydrogen value chain under the national hydrogen mission.
The companies cited Type-IV cylinders are modelled to hold out against higher pressure and are composed of lightweight material. Because of this, they make avail a durability range to vehicles as they can support more gaseous fuels including LNG, CNG, or hydrogen in future.
