Bank ABC mobilised USD 2.8 billion in sustainable finance in 2024, with 86 percent directed to emerging markets including Brazil, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, regions heavily exposed to climate and development pressures.
The Bahrain-headquartered bank said that the funding is driving renewable energy projects, climate resilience initiatives, and inclusive growth programmes, underscoring its ambition to position itself as MENA’s international bank of the future.
“This milestone confirms Bank ABC’s ability to direct capital with purpose, driving growth that is both sustainable and inclusive,” Group CEO Sael Al Waary said.
Bank ABC’s efforts have earned it the title of Bahrain’s Best Bank for Sustainable Finance 2025 by Euromoney. The institution is expanding its sustainability strategy with new community investments, global ESG training for client-facing staff, and the rollout of a Client ESG Risk Assessment framework aimed at strengthening lending practices while helping high-emitting clients in their transition.
“True progress demands collaboration. We are partnering with clients, regulators, investors, and communities to unlock solutions that deliver lasting impact across our network and beyond," Al Waary added.
