The Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (ECGB) has announced that along with Alfanar of Saudi Arabia, it has entered into an agreement for the construction of 100 MW of solar power projects.
The overall capacity of 100 MW is divided into two 50 MW solar projects, and they will be developed as a joint venture project at Sonagazi in Feni district of Bangladesh. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the project was inked in October 2018.
Bangladesh has become a striking investment destination for solar projects in the Indian subcontinent.
As per recent reports, World Bank had sanctioned $185 million to enable 310 MW of renewable energy generation capacity in Bangladesh to meet the growing demand for electricity in the country. The funding is also estimated to boost private sector participation in developing renewable energy projects in the country.
