Bajel Projects Secures Over INR 400 Crore Order for 500 kV Transmission Line in Egypt

Bajel Projects Ltd., part of the Bajaj Group, has formalised an agreement worth over INR 400 crore with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the construction of two contiguous sections, Lot 1 and Lot 5, of a 500 kV overhead transmission line in Egypt.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Cairo by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and CEO of Bajel Projects, in the presence of Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to the Arab Republic of Egypt, along with senior officials from India and Egypt. The ceremony was attended by Mona Rezk, Chairman of EETC, and Ahmed Fathy, Head of Central Projects Sector at EETC.

The combined order falls under Bajel Projects' ultra mega order category and forms part of Egypt's national grid reinforcement programme. The project is aimed at strengthening the country's high voltage transmission network and supporting reliable power evacuation amid rising economic and industrial demand.

Rajesh Ganesh said that the orders marked a defining moment for Bajel Projects, with the 500 kV transmission corridor reflecting international confidence in the company's engineering capabilities, project execution and ability to deliver complex high voltage infrastructure.

The agreement further expands Bajel Projects' presence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The company's international footprint includes a 50:50 joint venture with the Al Sharif Group in Saudi Arabia and its recently launched subsidiary, Bajel T & D Projects and Contracting, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The participation of India's Ambassador to Egypt at the signing ceremony also highlights the strengthening economic ties between India and Egypt and the growing role of Indian engineering and infrastructure companies in the region's power sector.
