Avalon ST, an LED-based solar simulation and photovoltaic (PV) metrology innovator, has announced the acquisition of PASAN SA, a company specialising in xenon-based solar simulators and precision measurement systems.
Founded in 1983 by Pierre-René Beljean, PASAN SA has set the global standard in PV module and cell testing equipment for over four decades. Known for its precise xenon-based sun simulators, PASAN’s products are trusted by leading research institutes and solar manufacturers worldwide.
Avalon ST, established in 2018 by Damien Etienne and Gavin Dong – former Meyer Burger, PASAN and TÜV Rheinland employees – has rapidly risen as the leader in LED-based solar simulation technology. Avalon ST’s products, notably the Nexun series, provide accuracy and reliability for advanced PV technologies, including HJT, PERC, and perovskite solar cells.
According to the companies, this acquisition brings together PASAN’s proven expertise in xenon-based technology and Avalon ST’s innovative advancements in LED technology, forming the industry's most comprehensive solution for solar panel and cell measurement.
Reflecting on the acquisition, Damien Etienne, Co-Founder and CTO of Avalon ST, said, “Bringing together the PASAN and Avalon ST family is profoundly meaningful. It’s not just a strategic step forward; it’s a full-circle journey for many of us. I started at PASAN as a student back in 2007, and to return now is an extraordinary journey.”
Aurélien Ubbiali, Head of Sales and Service at PASAN SA, added, “Joining Avalon ST enhances our capabilities to innovate and deliver an unparalleled array of solutions and services to our customers globally. Together, we’re entering a new era of excellence in photovoltaic testing.”
