Avaada Nagpur Superfactory Among Asia’s Best, Says CM Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has described Avaada Group’s solar manufacturing superfactory in Nagpur as among Asia’s best and urged entrepreneurs to invest in Nagpur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Fadnavis made the remarks during a visit to the facility, where he participated in a fireside conversation with Avaada Group Chairman Vineet Mittal attended by more than 60 entrepreneurs and industry leaders.

Recalling his participation in the factory’s groundbreaking ceremony, Fadnavis said that he had not anticipated the scale and quality of the facility that would eventually take shape. He congratulated Avaada and described the superfactory as one of India’s best.

The Chief Minister said  that Avaada’s investment had generated further interest in solar module manufacturing in Nagpur. He said that if other investors complete their committed projects on schedule, Nagpur could develop the country’s largest solar module manufacturing ecosystem.

Fadnavis also urged entrepreneurs to look beyond Mumbai and Pune and consider investment opportunities in Nagpur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, citing improving connectivity and expanding industrial activity in the region.

A commemorative memento containing the first solar cell manufactured at Avaada’s Nagpur facility was presented to the Chief Minister by Mittal during the visit.

The Chief Minister highlighted plans for an approximately 2,000-acre New Nagpur development along the Samruddhi Mahamarg. The proposed development is envisioned as a central business district, with infrastructure for global capability centres, advanced manufacturing and smart industries. He said around half of the land acquisition had been completed, with the remaining acquisition targeted within three months.

Fadnavis also pointed to industrial growth in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna, particularly in electric vehicles, along with the expansion of the Butibori industrial area. He said that  the Samruddhi Mahamarg would support industrial development across Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Maharashtra.

He further outlined a proposed rail freight corridor linking JNPT and Vadhavan Port with inland industrial centres to facilitate movement of goods and improve access to global markets.

On industrial competitiveness, Fadnavis stressed the importance of affordable electricity and highlighted the role of solar power and battery energy storage systems in providing reliable and cost-effective power. He also referred to Maharashtra’s five-year tariff proposal, under which tariffs are expected to decline annually.

Avaada Electro currently operates 8.5 GW of N-Type TOPCon glass-to-glass module manufacturing capacity across Nagpur and Dadri. Its Nagpur facility has 3 GW of operational N-Type TOPCon solar cell manufacturing capacity, while another 3 GW is in an advanced stage of commissioning and is expected to become operational in the quarter ending September 30, 2026.

The company also plans to establish 3 GW of ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity at Nagpur, extending its operations to earlier stages of the solar manufacturing value chain. According to the company, the expansion is aimed at strengthening domestic supply chains and increasing value addition in India.

Mittal said  that the working factory represented the fulfilment of the investment commitment and added that Avaada was focused on translating opportunities in Vidarbha and Marathwada into manufacturing capacity, skilled employment and stronger domestic supply chains.
