Avaada, Essar Renewables, Mahindra Susten, Jevargi Solar and Onward Solar Win NHPC’s 1200 MW Solar Auction

NHPC awarded a cumulative 1.2 GW solar power projects to Avaada Energy, Essar Renewables, Mahindra Susten, Jevargi Solar (Rays Infra) and Onward Solar.

National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has announced the result of its auction to select developers to set up 1200 MW ISTS-connected solar power projects in India.

Avaada Energy emerged as the single largest bidder and was awarded a capacity of 350 MW at a tariff of INR 2.56/kWh.

Essar Renewables and Mahindra Susten were both awarded a capacity of 300 MW each at a tariff of INR 2.56/kWh and INR 2.57/kWh respectively.

While Jevargi Solar (Rays Infra) was awarded a capacity of 200 MW, Onward Solar Power won a capacity of 50 MW. The tariff rate fixed for both of them is INR 2.56/kWh.  

This auction result reflects intense competition in the solar sector, with closely matched bids and low tariffs highlighting the decreasing costs and growing appeal of solar energy in India.

The tender for this 1200 MW solar power projects was issued on May 31, 2024, and June 29, 2024 was the last date for bid submission.
