Aula Energy has announced that the company has acquired five operational solar farms with a cumulative capacity of 1 GW from Lightsource bp, expanding its clean energy business across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria in Australia. This also includes a development pipeline of 800 MW of co-located battery energy storage systems (BESS).
The acquisition of 1GW of operating assets includes West Wyalong Solar, Wunghnu Solar, Woolooga Solar, Wellington Solar and Wellington North Solar, with options to develop co-located BESS across the portfolio, the company stated.
Chad Hymas, CEO, Aula Energy, said, “With the acquisition of these operating assets, we continue to scale our business, deliberately building a portfolio of assets that will meet the long-term energy needs of Australian communities.”
He further added, “For the solar farms acquired, day-to-day activities on site will continue as usual. We want customers, the local community, landholders and Traditional Owners to know that we value the strong foundations already in place. Our focus is on maintaining open communication and ensuring clear points of contact with the change of ownership.”
This strategic acquisition is complementary to Aula Energy’s wind projects currently under construction, as well as its wind and BESS projects in development.
