Attero Opens Global Access to World's Only UNFCCC Verified E Waste Carbon Credits

Attero has announced that organisations worldwide can now access Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) generated through its United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) registered Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Project 9739, the world's only registered and verified carbon credit project under the UNFCCC methodology AMS III.BA for recovery and recycling of materials from electronic waste.
The move expands global access to high integrity carbon credits generated through verified e waste recycling while supporting critical mineral recovery and circular economy objectives. According to the company, the project combines independently verified greenhouse gas emission reductions with responsible recycling of end of life electronic waste, making it a differentiated offering in the international carbon market.
The CERs are generated under CDM Project 9739 and represent verified reductions in greenhouse gas emissions achieved through Attero's recycling operations. Each carbon credit is equivalent to one tonne of carbon dioxide emissions avoided, enabling organisations to strengthen their environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments and decarbonisation strategies with independently verified climate assets.
Commenting on the development, Nitin Gupta, Chief Executive Officer and Co founder of Attero, said organisations are increasingly prioritising the quality and credibility of carbon credits rather than the volume. He said the company's UNFCCC verified project reflects years of investment in advanced recycling technologies and offers businesses an opportunity to support verified climate action while promoting resource security and the circular economy.
Gupta added that Attero's proprietary technologies, backed by more than 50 global patents, recover critical minerals with recovery efficiency exceeding 98 percent while achieving purity levels above 99.9 percent across battery materials.
The company noted that electronic waste has become the world's fastest growing waste stream, with more than 60 million tonnes generated annually. It said the availability of CERs from the project comes at a time when organisations are seeking high quality carbon offsets that deliver measurable environmental benefits alongside sustainable resource recovery.
Attero stated that the carbon credits generated under CDM Project 9739 are limited to the project's independently verified emission reductions, making them a high integrity and differentiated asset in the global carbon market. Besides reducing emissions, the project also contributes to responsible e waste management, recovery of critical minerals and advancement of circular economy practices.
The company recovers more than 20 critical minerals, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, graphite, silver, gold, manganese and rare earth elements, supporting supply chains for clean energy, electric mobility, electronics and advanced manufacturing sectors. It has operations in India, South Korea, Poland, Australia, Singapore and the United States, and has filed more than 200 patents globally.
