Waaree Renewable Technologies has announced that the company has received cancellation of the letter of award (LoA) for Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) works of the solar power project of 125 MWAC (181.3 MWp DC) capacity on a turnkey basis, along with operation and maintenance in Assam.

A consortium of Hetvi Construction, Waaree Renewable Technologies and Jayantisuper Construction secured the INR 740.07 crore EPC order from Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd. (APDCL) for setting up a 125 MWAC Solar PV Power Plant in Karbi Anglong district of Assam in March 2025.

The project was scheduled to be completed within 18 months from the date of signing of contract.

“The Government of Assam has decided to withdraw the project from funding through an ADB Loan. In light of this decision, APDCL has resolved that it is no longer feasible to pursue the said solar project, and hence, all the work allotted to the parties for the implementation of the Solar Project stands terminated,” stated Waaree Renewable Technologies in a regulatory filing.

In May 2025, ADB cancelled a proposed USD 434 million loan to the Government of Assam for the 1,000 MW Karbi Anglong solar power project, following sustained protests and concerns over displacement, land rights, and environmental impact.
