Assam Initiates Development of 70 MW Solar Park Project
The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate basis for the obtaining of solar power by the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for a period of 25 years

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has placed the foundation stone of the 70 MW Amguri Solar Park in Sivasagar district. The Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd (APGCL) had released a Request for Proposal for the development the grid-connected solar photovoltaic projects in Amguri Solar Park in the state in the month of January 2019.
The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate basis for the obtaining of solar power by the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for a period of 25 years.
The deadline for submission of bids for development of this project was February 28, 2019, and the projects are yet to be assigned.
The chief minister specified that the government is dedicated to warranting a better future for the people of Assam, adding that the government programs are executed with maximum transparency.
Appreciating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his idea towards the growth of Assam and the northeast, he said many development projects declared by the central government would boost rapid progress in the region.
The state government of Assam has set a target to produce 6,500 MW of power by 2030. It also aims to install 590 MW of solar energy projects which are to be developed across solar parks, rooftop, and off-grid by 2020.
