Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has inaugurated SJVN Green Energy’s (SGEL) 70 MW solar power project at Khudigaon in Bilasipara.
Built at a cost of INR 367.44 crore on 330 acres of land provided by Assam Power Distribution Company (APDCL), the project is designed to generate 141.13 million units of electricity in its first year at a Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 23 percent, with an estimated cumulative generation of approximately 3,230 MU over 25 years.
The project is expected to result in a reduction of approximately 1,58,270 tonnes of carbon emissions.
The project was awarded to SGEL by APDCL on February 16, 2023, through a tariff-based competitive bidding process at a tariff of INR 3.92 per unit.
“Today, our solar capacity has reached 680 MW, and by April,l we will touch 750 MW, steadily advancing towards a sustainable, clean energy future,” said the Assam CM, further stating that the state has set a target of reaching 3,500 MW of installed solar capacity by 2030.
“This project is the first large-scale solar project in the state of Assam and also SJVN’s first operational project in the North Eastern Region,” SJVN stated.
