Surat-based solar module manufacturer ASOT Solar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese solar technology company Sunergy to advance high-efficiency solar module manufacturing in India.

Under the partnership, the two companies will jointly integrate technologies, optimise processes, and expand module production capacity to 800 MW per annum. Their collaboration will emphasise technology transfer, material innovation, and the development of next-generation solar products that meet India’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) standards.

The initiative supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission by promoting local manufacturing and strengthening the renewable energy supply chain. Through this tie-up, ASOT Solar aims to combine Sunergy’s advanced solar technologies, such as TOPCon and HJT, with its own manufacturing strengths to boost efficiency and reduce project costs.

“This collaboration marks a significant step towards building globally competitive solar manufacturing capabilities in India,” said Kaushik Chitaliya, Founder and MD, ASOT Solar. “By combining Sunergy’s technological expertise with ASOT’s manufacturing excellence and ALMM certification, we aim to deliver next-generation solar modules to Indian and global markets,” he added.

The partnership will increase domestic production capacity, cut dependence on imports, and generate new employment opportunities in the renewable energy sector. The companies will also explore joint R&D initiatives to accelerate innovation in solar materials and production systems.

According to the company, ASOT Solar currently operates a 600 MW module manufacturing facility and has established itself as a reliable supplier of high-performance solar modules in India. It plans to expand capacity to 2.2 GW in the near future and begin solar cell manufacturing by 2027, moving toward full vertical integration.

Sunergy, a national high-tech enterprise specialising in solar module R&D and manufacturing, operates with an 8 GW annual production capacity. Its portfolio includes cutting-edge technologies like TOPCon and HJT, offering modules with power outputs up to 730W and efficiencies exceeding 25.8 percent.
