ARS Steel has successfully delivered India’s first green TMT bar to Trimetro Group for the construction of Epic Group’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This project marks a major milestone in sustainable infrastructure, incorporating eco-friendly building practices and advanced technology.
Epic Group, a sustainable fashion leader based in Hong Kong, is investing INR 377 crore to set up a dedicated green manufacturing facility to support its operations in India. The facility is designed to be Net Zero in energy and water usage, setting a new standard for green industrial development. A critical element of this project is the use of ARS Steel’s ultra-low emission TMT bars, which are supplied with the support of sentra.world, a technology-driven startup dedicated to the decarbonisation of industrial manufacturing.
India is leading the way by being the first country to define 'green steel,' which classifies steel with an emission intensity below 1.6 tCO₂/tfs as 5-star rated. With a national average emission intensity around 2.5 tCO₂/tcs, ARS Steel has set a new benchmark by achieving an emission intensity of 0.59 tCO₂/tfs, making it 4X greener than average TMT bars and one of the lowest-emission steel producers in the country. Epic Group’s choice of ARS’s green steel has reduced the embodied emission of their building by approximately 20 percent, transitioning from the traditional blast furnace method to the cleaner electric route of steel production.
sentra.world has played a crucial role in ensuring carbon transparency throughout the supply chain. Its real-time emissions monitoring system and AI-driven quality control framework offer detailed order-wise insights into grade chemistry and carbon emissions, enforcing transparency and facilitating the development of circular supply chains in the construction industry.
"Sustainability is central to our operations at Epic. By collaborating with ARS Steel and utilizing the expertise of sentra.world, we've made a significant stride in diminishing our carbon footprint without compromising on quality, thereby establishing new benchmarks for eco-friendly construction in India. This initiative underscores our dedication to fostering a sustainable future, not only in the fashion sector but for the entire planet," said Ranjan Mahtani, Founder and Chairman, Epic Group.
Ashwani Kumar Bhatia, Managing Director, ARS Steel, commented, "ARS Steel is proud to supply India’s first green steel TMT bars, setting a new benchmark for net zero buildings. Our commitment to quality and sustainability drives us to create steel that not only strengthens structures but also reduces environmental impact. This collaboration with Epic and sentra.world marks a significant step towards a cleaner, greener future."
"Our mission at sentra.world is to enable industries to measure, mitigate, and monetise their carbon emissions using technology. Facilitating this green steel supply chain has been a milestone moment for us. By embedding transparency and traceability into the process, we’re not just reducing emissions but also setting a new precedent for sustainable procurement in India." Harsh Choudhry, Co-founder and CEO, sentra.world.
ARS 550D TMT Bars are renowned for their high ductility and superior strength to produce 100 percent 'D' quality steel with low sulphur and phosphorus( < 0.075 percent). The company uses over 98 percent recycled steel, renewable energy, and zero fossil fuel in manufacturing process.
This partnership not only constructs a building but pioneers a new era of sustainable manufacturing in India, aligning the project with global sustainability standards and setting an example for future infrastructural developments.
