Arctech, a Chinese firm specialising in solar tracking, racking, and intelligent clean energy solutions, has inaugurated Phase II of its Jeddah manufacturing facility, marking a major step in its global localisation strategy and reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s emergence as a renewable energy technology hub.

Chairman Cai Hao hailed the launch as a strategic milestone” in Arctech’s model built on four pillars viz. globalisation, differentiation, intelligence, and sustainability. He said the MENA region, alongside China and India, now forms one of the company’s three global growth bases. “Saudi Arabia is our strategic highland, but the wider Middle East, especially the UAE and Oman, are equally vital markets where we continue to expand,” Cai said. “Our factories in Jeddah and India serve as bridges connecting regional clients with global innovation," he added.

Developed with a $60 million investment and spanning 100,000 sqm, the new phase boosts Arctech’s annual production capacity to 15 GW, enabling local manufacturing of posts, transmission shafts, and AI-powered control boxes.

Wang Pei, Head of International Operations HQ and General Manager for the MEA Unit, said the expansion aligns with Saudi Vision 2030’s local-content program, enhancing the kingdom’s manufacturing and technological self-reliance. “We’re not just a product provider, we’re a lifetime solar-tracking solution provider,” Wang noted. “With Phase II, we introduce structured manufacturing, AI systems, and SCADA monitoring for long-term performance and simplified maintenance.”

Arctech’s AI control box uses cloud- and back-tracking algorithms to boost energy yield by up to 8%, while the company’s wind-tunnel lab ensures system reliability under the Middle East’s extreme heat and wind conditions.

Beyond Saudi Arabia, Arctech has become a vital contributor to the UAE’s renewable energy goals. It supplied 2.1 GW of SkySmart II trackers for Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra PV2 project, one of the world’s largest single-site solar farms, and recently secured a 1.5 GW tracker contract in Dubai, partnering with Masdar, EDF Renewables, and JinkoPower.

These projects advance the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, highlighting how GCC collaboration is accelerating solar adoption and industrial integration across the region.

Looking ahead, Cai Hao confirmed plans for Phase III of the Jeddah complex, focusing on energy-storage systems, cleaning robots, and AI-powered solutions to strengthen regional supply-chain resilience. “Our goal is to combine global innovation with local partnerships to drive the Middle East’s green transition,” Cai added.

Arctech currently employs 120 professionals from 11 nationalities across the MENA region and aims to fully localize the production of slew drives and control boxes by next year. The company also plans to install 3 MW of rooftop and carport solar systems at its Jeddah plant as part of its smart green-building initiative.
