The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) for Phase I of a pilot project on green hydrogen in the transport sector under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
The MoU was exchanged between Dr. Reji Mathai, Director, ARAI, and Dr. Umish Srivastava, Executive Director, IOCL, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s hydrogen ecosystem, MHI stated.
The pilot project aims to support India’s transition towards low-carbon transportation by demonstrating the feasibility of green hydrogen as an alternative fuel. Aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat, the initiative is expected to contribute to the country’s long-term Net Zero targets and reinforce efforts to build a sustainable and self-reliant energy system.
