Apple and CleanMax have entered into a strategic co-investment transaction aimed at accelerating decarbonisation within India’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector through scaled renewable energy deployment.

Apple’s initial investment of INR 100 crore will support the development of more than 150 MW of new renewable energy capacity — enough to power an average 150,000 Indian households each year — with opportunity to further expand in the coming years. The partnership aims to advance Apple’s efforts to scale renewable energy across its supply chain in India, Apple stated.

Apple previously worked with CleanMax on a portfolio of rooftop solar projects to help power Apple’s offices and retail stores in India with 100 percent renewable energy.

Kuldeep Jain, Managing Director and Founder, CleanMax, said, “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Apple yet again. At CleanMax, we see ourselves as a long-term net-zero partner to corporates, and we are proud to continue working with a company like Apple that continues to push the ecosystem to think bigger, move faster, and build more responsibly.”

Sarah Chandler, Apple’s Vice President of Environment and Supply Chain Innovation, said, “At Apple, our commitment to the environment is also a driving force for innovation — across the company and around the world. We’re proud to expand our efforts to invest in India’s clean energy economy and protect the country’s precious natural resources.”

Amid the rapid expansion of India’s corporate renewable energy market, such collaborations are increasingly shaping the next phase of industrial decarbonisation by combining long-term capital, global sustainability ambition, and scalable clean energy execution. The partnership also reflects the growing role of strategic co-investment models in accelerating high-quality renewable infrastructure for commercial and industrial consumers, with India continuing to emerge as a critical market in this transition, stated CleanMax.
