APCPDCL Crosses 50,000 Rooftop Solar Connections in Andhra Pradesh Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme

APCPDCL has crossed 50,000 rooftop solar connections, reaching 180 MW capacity under the PM Surya Ghar scheme across Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (APCPDCL) has synchronised 50,114 rooftop solar connections with a cumulative installed capacity of 180 MW under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

The utility added 43,625 connections over the past year, taking the total from 6,489 installations completed by April 2025. The sharp increase highlights accelerated rooftop solar adoption across APCPDCL's service area.

APCPDCL attributed the growth to consumer awareness campaigns, continuous support from application submission through grid synchronisation, and coordination among officers, engineers, field staff and empanelled vendors.

Daily review meetings with vendors helped address implementation challenges, improve installation execution and speed up project completion. Close monitoring by senior officials and coordination at the field level also supported the rollout.

APCPDCL Chairman and Managing Director P Pullareddy acknowledged Director (Projects) TVSN Murthy, the Projects Wing and other teams involved in achieving the milestone.

The utility plans to further expand rooftop solar installations under the central scheme, supporting Andhra Pradesh's renewable energy targets while helping households reduce electricity expenses through clean power generation.

The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana aims to provide rooftop solar systems to one crore households and enable beneficiaries to receive up to 300 units of free electricity each month.
