ANDRITZ Secures Equipment Contract Worth €50 Million for J&K Hydro Power Project

ANDRITZ has announced it has bagged a contract worth over Euro 50 million from Chenab Valley Power Projects for supplying the complete electro-mechanical equipment for the run-of-the-river Kiru hydropower plant in Jammu & Kashmir.

The 624 Megawatt project is located on the Chenab river in Kishtwar district. Chenab Valley Power Projects is a joint venture company between state-owned NHPC Ltd, JKSPDC, a government of J&K undertaking, and power trader PTC India Ltd.

"The company received the contract through tough competition carried out through an international competitive bidding process. The Project would generate 2,272.02 million units in a 90 per cent dependable year," ADRITZ said in a statement.

It added the contract will contain supply, design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of four turbines and generators, associated accessories and auxiliaries, auxiliary electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, 400 kV GIS and 400 kV outdoor pothead yard equipment.

It will be executed by ANDRITZ’s Indian subsidiary with its manufacturing facilities in Mandideep, near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, and Prithla, near Faridabad, in Haryana.

ANDRITZ supplies plants, systems, equipment and services for various industries including hydropower, pulp and paper, metal and steel and municipal segments. It has so far supplied 31,000 turbines globally with total capacity of 430,000 MW
