Andhra Pradesh Releases New Solar Policy
The policy aspire to target a minimum total solar power capacity addition of 5,000 MW in the subsequent five years in the State with a vision to convene the rising demand for power in an environmentally sustainable method.

The state government of Andhra Pradesh has announced that it has released ‘Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Policy-2018’ with a validity period of five years. The government aims to provide a structure for encouragement of large grid connected solar PV systems in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The policy aspire to target a minimum total solar power capacity addition of 5,000 MW in the subsequent five years in the State with a vision to convene the rising demand for power in an environmentally sustainable method.
This policy will stay relevant for a period of five years or until a new policy is issued. Solar power projects (SPP) that are commissioned during the operational period will be entitled for the incentives declared under this policy for a phase of 10 years from the date of commissioning.
The goals of the fresh policy are:
- To aim a minimum total solar power capacity addition of 5,000 MW in the next five years in the State with a vision to convene the increasing demand for power in an environmentally sustainable method.
- To develop solar park(s) with the essential utility infrastructure amenities to promote developers to set up solar power projects in the State.
- To endorse distributed generation that can help in evading upstream network cost and add towards loss reduction.
- To install solar powered agricultural pump sets and convene power necessities of farmers during day time.
- To support local manufacturing amenities, thus generating employment in the State.
