The Andhra Pradesh government has approved renewable energy projects worth INR 43,358 crore. The clearances, granted by the State Investment Promotion Committee (SIPC), cover more than 2,600 MW of new capacity across solar, wind, hybrid, battery storage, and pumped storage projects.
Approvals were given to 11 companies, including Hexa Energy, Serentica Renewables, and Brightfuture Power (a subsidiary of CESC). It also includes Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which has applied to set up 1,200 MWh of battery storage in Nandyal.
A significant share of the investment is directed towards pumped storage projects. Navayuga Engineering will expand its Gujjili project in Alluri Sitharama Raju district from 1,500 MW to 2,400 MW with an investment of INR 15,455 crore, while Chinta Green Energy plans to scale up its YSR Kadapa project from 350 MW to 2,400 MW at a cost of INR 15,050 crore.
In the wind segment, Serentica Renewables will develop 550 MW across Ananthapur and Kurnool districts with an outlay of INR 2,400 crore, while Brightfuture Power will set up a 350 MW wind project in Ananthapur at a cost of INR 3,286 crore. Hexa Energy received approval for a 100 MW hybrid solar and wind project worth INR 1,200 crore.
Other projects include Refex Solar’s 100 MW solar plant in Sri Sathya Sai district at an investment of INR 480 crore and Clean Renewable Energy’s solar unit in Nandyal costing INR 1,000 crore. These clearances fall under the state’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy.
Since June 2024, Andhra Pradesh has attracted renewable energy commitments worth INR 2.2 trillion. The ICE Policy targets 160 GW of renewable capacity with potential investments estimated at INR 10 trillion.
