Andhra Pradesh has taken a major step to accelerate residential clean energy adoption by awarding 1,200 MW of rooftop solar projects under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
The utility-led aggregator auction, conducted in July 2025, attracted strong participation from both established and emerging solar developers, signaling the state’s commitment to expanding rooftop solar capacity at the household level.
The largest allocation went to Kosol Energie, securing 291.54 MW, followed by Rotomag Enertec with 139.53 MW and Sadbhav Futuretech with 90 MW. Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals and Surya Cons received 77.4 MW and 60.27 MW respectively. Several mid-sized developers, including Brihaspathi Technologies, Junna Solar Systems, Sunworks Energy, VSA Infra Projects, and Sree Sai Electronics, won capacities ranging from 12 MW to 18 MW.
Additional bidders collectively secured 71.86 MW, while other selected companies such as Sungrace Energy Solutions, Environ Energy Tech, Jahnavi Engineering & Consultancy, Surya Power Tree, Servotech Renewable Power System, RayPower Solutions, and Cheriesh Power Technologies will also implement rooftop systems across the state.
All projects are earmarked for residential homes belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe consumers, aligning with the scheme’s focus on inclusive access to solar power. Developers are tasked with delivering complete rooftop solutions, covering design, engineering, supply, transport, installation, commissioning, and five years of operations and maintenance.
To qualify for central financial assistance from MNRE, projects must use domestically manufactured solar cells and modules that meet strict quality and warranty standards. Each system carries an eight-year product warranty and guaranteed performance retention of 90 percent after ten years and 80 percent after twenty-five years. The implementation timeline is just six months, underlining the urgency to scale household solar adoption.
This auction represents a significant milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to expand residential solar, support domestic manufacturing, and ensure long-term system reliability for households across the state.
