AMPIN Energy Transition has announced that the company has successfully commissioned a 60 MWp group captive open access C&I solar project at Kantabanji, Odisha.

This is Odisha's first group captive open access C&I solar project under Odisha Renewable Energy Policy 2022 (OREP-22), stated the company.

The project has been executed end-to-end by AMPIN from land sourcing to construction and commissioning with grid connectivity at 132 kV Kantabanji Substation. The plant will supply clean energy to leading corporates (group captive partners), including Bharti Airtel, Jindal Stainless, Emami Paper Mills, and Quality CARE Hospitals (QCIL).

Replacing nearly 50 percent of conventional grid power for the group captive users, the project will enable 25-30 percent cost savings while ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply, reducing around 77 MT of CO₂ emissions annually – equivalent to planting approximately 36 lakh trees each year, the company stated.

Additionally, under OREP-22, the group captive partners and consumers will benefit from a waiver of transmission charges and electricity duty for the next 20 years.

With another 45 MWp under construction and a 50 MWp (open for discussion with new group captive partners) in the pipeline, AMPIN is strengthening its presence in Odisha with a total of 200 MWp portfolio. The state's progressive GEOA policy, seamless RE transition and energy banking option will ensure the growth of further RE development in the state, the company stated.
