Interconnect systems provider Amphenol Industrial Operations has started operations at solar junction box manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona. Pre-installed on the back of a solar panel, solar junction boxes connect power produced by solar cells to external lines.
The 58,000-square-foot state-of-the-art production facility can support around 12 manufacturing lines, with each line able to produce around 100,000 boxes per month. Meanwhile, the factory is producing about 3,000 solar junction boxes per day in its first production line.
The manufacturing facility has the technology to produce solar connectors and other advanced interconnect assemblies for solar arrays. The production lines for these components are anticipated to be online by the end of 2024.
“By manufacturing and shipping high-quality, reliable solar products every day at our expanded Mesa facility, we’re building on our mission to help create a more efficient and sustainable U.S. solar supply chain. As we grow our manufacturing footprint and add more local, specialized talent to our Mesa team, we remain committed to helping our customers, partners and the broader community navigate the transition to a cleaner energy future,” said Mark Cunningham, General Manager of Amphenol Industrial Operations.
