Amazon has solidified its position as the world's largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy for the fourth consecutive year. With a portfolio comprising more than 500 solar and wind projects globally, Amazon's renewable energy initiatives are now poised to power 7.2 million US homes annually.

The company's strategic investments include more than 100 new solar and wind projects in 2023, marking significant strides towards its goal of having 100 percent of its electricity attributed to renewable sources by 2025.

Amazon's extensive portfolio encompasses diverse projects, ranging from its first brownfield initiative in Maryland, repurposing a coal mine site into a solar farm, to venturing into South Korea's renewable energy landscape. The impact of Amazon's renewable energy projects extends beyond powering its operations, actively contributing to local communities.

Notably, areas housing Amazon wind and solar farms have experienced over USD 12 billion in additional investment from 2014 through 2022. As of now, Amazon's renewable projects span 27 countries and over 20 US states, with recent expansions in Arkansas, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Virginia.

The company's focus on job creation and economic growth is evident, with the development of projects like the CPV Backbone solar farm in Maryland, expected to be the largest in the state, employing over 200 skilled workers during peak construction.

Emphasizing the company's commitment to a cleaner future, Amazon's renewable energy projects have not only helped reduce carbon emissions but also injected over USD 12 billion in estimated economic investment globally from 2014 through 2022.

Adam Selipsky, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), affirmed, "More than 90% of our operations were powered by renewables last year, but we're not done." Amazon's trajectory in renewable energy showcases its dedication to pioneering sustainable solutions and addressing climate change globally.
