Amazon and Vena Energy have commenced operations on their latest renewable energy endeavor, the Amazon Solar Project Australia – Wandoan, situated in Woleebee, Queensland.

This project, comprising over 250,000 solar photovoltaic panels, is anticipated to provide sustainable energy to power more than 60,000 Australian households annually.

Ken Haig, Head of Energy and Environment Policy, Asia Pacific and Japan at Amazon Web Services, emphasized Amazon's commitment to achieving 100 percent renewable energy for its operations by 2025. “For more than a decade, Amazon has invested billions of dollars in Australia, and today’s announcement demonstrates our continued investment in Australia’s future. As the world’s largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy, our investment in our renewable energy projects, including the Wandoan project, helps deliver clean energy to local grids, creates new jobs, and supports local businesses,” Haig said.

The Wandoan South Project, spearheaded by Vena Energy, is a crucial component of Queensland's clean energy transition. Mick de Brenni, Queensland Minister for Energy and Clean Economy Jobs, hailed the partnership between international corporations and local stakeholders, emphasizing Queensland's renewable energy potential and its role in attracting investments.

Vena Energy CEO Nitin Apte expressed excitement about reaching this milestone, highlighting the project's contribution to a cleaner, more sustainable future for Australia. Apte emphasized the positive impact on local communities, including job creation and business support.

The entire Wandoan South Project is poised to deliver over 1,000 GWh of clean energy annually to the Western Downs Region.
