Amara Raja Energy and Mobility has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), has approved a capital expenditure (capex) of INR 2,320 crore to expand battery pack manufacturing capacity and establish a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell manufacturing plant at its Amara Raja Giga Corridor in Telangana.
The investment will increase ARACT's battery pack manufacturing capacity from 4 GWh to 9 GWh and support the establishment of an LFP cell manufacturing facility. The plants are scheduled to be established within the next 30 months, the company stated in a regulatory filing.
It further added that the capex will be financed through a combination of equity and debt.
The latest investment builds on the company's progress in battery cell manufacturing. In July 2026, ARACT commissioned a Customer Qualification Plant at the Telangana Giga Corridor to manufacture lithium-ion cells for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) seeking qualification and approval ahead of planned commercial-scale cell production.
Built at an investment of INR 500 crore, the qualification facility forms part of Amara Raja's INR 9,500 crore, 16 GWh Gigafactory programme. The company had planned to commence commercial-scale cell production with an initial capacity of 2 GWh in calendar year 2027.
