Alstom has signed two contracts totaling €270 million with Queiroz Galvão, one of the main infrastructure groups in Brazil. The contracts cover the manufacturing, delivery, installation and commissioning of ECO 122 wind turbines in two wind complexes, located in the North-East of Brazil, as well as operation and maintenance of the turbines for 10 years.

“We strongly believe the Brazilian & Latin-American electricity market will continue to grow in the forthcoming years. Alstom is committed to further providing its innovative technology and expertise, as illustrated by these new contracts”, says Marcos Costa, Alstom Brazil Country President.

The wind turbines will be produced at Alstom manufacturing unit in Camaçari (Bahia State) which opened in November 2011. The factory will have a 600 MW output capacity per year, with two work shifts.

The ECO 122 – a 2.7MW onshore wind turbine – is the latest evolution of Alstom’s proven ECO 100 turbine platform. “Research and innovation are at the heart of our activities. Alstom is developing a new generation of wind turbines to increase value for its customers. With longer blades and 20%-larger swept area, the ECO 122 can capture more power in a more efficient way than previous machines. It has already set a new standard for low wind sites around the globe”, said Alfonso Faubel, Senior Vice President Wind, of Alstom Renewable Power Sector.
