ALMM Update: Solar Module Capacity Surpasses 228 GW in September 2026

MNRE has updated the ALMM List-I, adding 12,256 MW of solar module capacity in September 2026, taking the total enlisted capacity to 228,524. Twelve new players, including Atal Solar, Solberry Energy, Nelson Solar, VSOLE Power, SKKYTOP Power and Multi Infra, have entered the ALMM list. Vikram Solar, Fujiyama Solar, Alpex Solar have increased capacities.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) by adding 12,256 MW of solar module capacity in List-I in September 2026. With this, the cumulative module manufacturing capacity enlisted in ALMM reaches 228,524 MW.

12 new entrants have added a cumulative of 5,599 MW capacity. Atal Solar (1,440 MW), Solberry Energy (1,038 MW), Nelson Surface LLP (Nelson Solar) (1,001 MW), VSOLE Power (736 MW), Radiantgreen Energy (347 MW), Aelius Turbina (347 MW), SKKYTOP Power (231 MW), Multi Infrastructure & Engineering (Multi Infra) (225 MW), CRK Renewable Energies (70 MW), Himalayan Solar (63 MW), Satyam Enterprises (65 MW) and Padmapat Energy (Padmapat Engineers) (36 MW) are the new entrants in ALMM List-I.

Among the existing players, VSL Green Power (Vikram Solar) has added 2,573 MW from a new plant in Tamil Nadu. Fujiyama Power System has added 1,810 MW of module capacity from a new plant in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. Alpex Solar has added 799 MW of capacity from a new line in Greater Noida and has increased capacity by 533 MW at its Surjapur plant – overall adding 1,332 MW of capacity. Bluebird Solar and Knack Energy have increased their capacities by 830 MW and 112 MW, respectively.

The list was last updated on August 3, 2026, when MNRE added 11,885 MW of solar module capacity, taking the total capacity listed under ALMM List-I to 216,268 MW.

Introduced in 2021, the ALMM serves as a critical quality control measure, ensuring that only approved solar module manufacturers are eligible for government projects, subsidies, and tenders. The list is regularly updated to reflect the status of compliant manufacturers.

Solar cells have also come under the ambit of ALMM. In August 2026, MNRE updated the ALMM List-II by adding 3,709 MW of TOPCon solar cell capacity, taking the cumulative cell manufacturing capacity enlisted in ALMM to 35,467 MW.

Recently, for net metering and open access solar projects, MNRE has extended the exemption from ALMM List-II implementation till December 31, 2026. On July 31, 2025, MNRE released the first edition of its ALMM List-II for solar PV cells. Subsequently, the list has been revised eight times, with the total enlisted capacity reaching 31,758 MW from 14 manufacturers.

In March 2026, MNRE expanded its ALMM framework to include ingots and wafers under a new List-III, mandating their use from June 1, 2028. The first list will be published when at least three independent wafer manufacturers with a combined 15 GW capacity are enlisted, and the cut-off date will be 7 days post the initial list issuance.
