The Approved List of Module Manufacturers (ALMM) has recently undergone a revision, introducing three new manufacturers viz. Avaada Electro, Laxmi Solar, and Uratom Solar, which raises the total number of listed companies to 94. This update is crucial for solar PV manufacturers seeking to engage in government-led renewable energy projects, as inclusion on the ALMM list is a mandatory requirement for participation in such initiatives.

The revised ALMM list underscores the expanding scale and commitment of India’s solar manufacturing sector. According to MNRE data, India’s aggregate enlisted domestic solar module manufacturing capacity has now surpassed 50 GW, reflecting significant progress in the industry. The growth in capacity is attributed to contributions from several firms, with notable additions from Jakson Engineers (662 MW), Tata Power Solar (2,697 MW), and SASA Energy (9 MW). The new entrants have made substantial contributions, wherein Avaada Electro has added 554 MW, Laxmi Solar has increased its capacity by 121 MW, and Uratom Solar has added 46 MW. This showcases the sector’s robust growth and investment.
In addition, Vikram Solar Ltd., based in Falta Special Economic Zone, West Bengal, has received provisional enlistment for two new solar PV module models. While this provisional status permits the company to list these models in ALMM List-1, final enlistment will be contingent upon meeting all ALMM Order requirements and further government review.

Vikram Solar has applied for an annual manufacturing capacity of 1,500 MW. Similarly, Novasys Greenergy Pvt. Ltd., located in Nagpur, Maharashtra, has secured provisional enlistment for six additional solar PV module models and has applied for a manufacturing capacity of 500 MW per year.

The other firms that  applied for substantial expansions and new model introductions and have received provisional enlistment include,  Sahaj Solar, based in Gujarat, which aims to retain its annual enlisted capacity of 100 MW while adding new models. Alpex Solar Ltd.from Uttar Pradesh proposed a substantial capacity increase, looking to expand from 248 MW to 600 MW per year, and is also planning to introduce new models.

Waaree Energies Ltd. from Gujarat maintained their annual enlisted capacity of 8,524 MW with additions of new models. Renewsys India Pvt. Ltd. from Maharashtra also maintained the earlier enlisted annual capacity of 565 MW and added new models. While, Renewsys India Pvt. Ltd. Telangana, increased its annual capacity to 590 MW from 576 MW with new model additions. Spark Solar Technologies from Maharashtra expanded its capacity to 52 MW per year from enlisted capacity of 42 MW.

Further, Sova Solar Ltd., located in West Bengal, seeks to enhance its capacity to 1,000 MW, up from 532 MW with addition of new models. Atmanirbhar Solar Pvt. Ltd. in Gujarat  applied to add new models without changing its current capacity of 100 MW per year.

Goldi Sun Pvt. Ltd., another Gujarat-based company, has requested to align its significant capacity of 2,209 MW per year with new model offerings. Bluebird Solar Pvt. Ltd. in Uttar Pradesh  maintained its 100 MW annual capacity while introducing new models. Similarly, Grew Energy Pvt. Ltd. from Rajasthan is looking to expand its capacity to 1,200 MW annually, up from 1,150 MW, along with new models. Icon Solar En Power Technologies Pvt. Ltd.  applied to increase its capacity to 400 MW per year from 186 MW.

However, these provisional statuses will only become final if the firms adhere to the specified criteria; failure to do so will prevent final enlistment.

Further, it may be noted that the list prominently features a strong presence of Gujarat-based solar PV firms, indicating their leading role in India’s solar manufacturing landscape. The other manufacturers  are from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Goa.
