Alfanar Power Signs 100 MW Wind PPA with GUVNL

Alfanar Power has signed a 100 MW wind power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam at a tariff of INR 3.43/kWh, following its acceptance of an additional 50 MW under the greenshoe option.

Alfanar Power has announced the signing of a 100 MW wind power purchase agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL). The agreement was signed by Mohammed Irfan, CEO of Alfanar Power.

The company emerged as the L1 bidder in Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam’s (GUVNL) auction held in December 2025 to set up 250 MW grid-connected wind power projects (Phase X) and secured 50 MW capacity at a tariff of INR 3.43/kWh. Patel Infrastructure (100 MW), KP Energy (50 MW) and Powerica (50 MW) were the other winners.

The tender for this was floated in September 2025.

In March 2026, Alfanar Power confirmed its acceptance of the offered 50 MW capacity under the greenshoe option at an L1 tariff of INR 3.43/kWh, taking the total capacity to 100 MW.

KP Energy, Powerica and Patel Infrastructure also accepted greenshoe capacity of 50 MW, 50 MW and 100 MW, respectively, at the L1 tariff of INR 3.43/kWh. Thus, the effective wind power procurement capacity by GUVNL increased to 500 MW.

Subsequently, GUVNL sent letters of intent (LOIs) to all the four bidders, and they have also accepted the same. Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) approved the tariffs in May 2026.

As per the terms of the tender, the projects must be located at the locations chosen by the bidders anywhere in India at their own discretion of cost, risk and responsibility. In case of Inter-State Projects and Projects connected through the CTU Network, all the transmission charges and losses up to the delivery point must be borne by the bidder.

The bidders are free to choose the CTU/GETCO substations for interconnection of the project to the grid.

The offered/declared annual CUF must not be less than 25 percent.

The type-certified wind turbine models listed in 'Approved list of Models and Manufacturers (Wind)' must be used in the projects.
