Agastya Energy Industries Pvt. Ltd. has unveiled plans to establish an integrated 10 GW solar manufacturing facility, comprising 5 GW of solar cell and 5 GW of solar module production in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district, with a total investment of INR 7,000 crore.
The mega project, to be developed in two phases, will be among India’s largest end-to-end solar manufacturing units, marking a major push toward self-reliance under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat missions. Once operational, the plant is expected to create large-scale employment opportunities and strengthen the country’s renewable manufacturing ecosystem.
The upcoming facility will employ next-generation TOPCon bifacial technology, offering higher efficiency, superior temperature tolerance, and lower degradation compared to conventional PERC cells, ensuring greater energy yield under India’s diverse climatic conditions.
Speaking about the project, Bernhard Rack, CEO of Agastya Energy Industries, said, “Our Kurnool facility represents a decisive step in advancing India’s solar manufacturing capabilities. We are creating a technologically advanced, environmentally responsible, and globally competitive production base that sets new benchmarks in efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.”
Gaurav Tripathi, Director at Agastya Energy, added, “This investment underscores our long-term commitment to India’s clean-energy goals. Beyond manufacturing, the project will drive skilled employment, deepen the indigenous value chain, and catalyse partnerships across the solar ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh.”
Spread over 120 acres, the facility will attract component and material suppliers, stimulate local industry, and further position Andhra Pradesh as a key hub for renewable energy manufacturing and green investments.
