In a bid to help the Andhra Pradesh government implement energy efficiency projects, New Delhi-based Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) has announced a partnership with Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM).
Talking about the tie-up, Dr. Satish Kumar, Executive Director of AEEE appreciated the Andhra Pradesh government for taking robust initiatives for energy efficiency and conservation in the state and encouraged other states to come forward to take such initiatives.
Energy conservation is all set to play a significant role in achieving ambitious targets of net zero emissions by 2070 set by the government to mitigate the challenges of climate change. India is on its way to reducing one billion tonnes of CO2 by 2030.
The meeting of APSECM officials with AEEE was part of a series of meetings organised by APSECM with prominent organisations at the national level to take insights into the energy efficiency sector.
Dr. Satish Kumar praised the unique initiative of involving all the government departments through the constitution of energy conservation cells. He called it a ‘thoughtful step’ to boost efficient use of energy and reduce energy consumption and electricity bills by implementing energy efficiency so that the economic burden of the government departments is reduced.”
Around nine secretariat departments, thirty-three HODs and seventy autonomous organisations have constituted energy conservation cells in the state.
