Adani Power Limited said it has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) to supply 1,600 MW of electricity under a long-term agreement.

The power will come from one of the company’s upcoming ultra-supercritical thermal power projects and will be supplied under a proposed 25-year power supply agreement starting in the financial year 2030-31.

Adani Power won the contract through a competitive bidding process and offered a combined tariff of 5.30 rupees per kilowatt-hour, the company said.

S.B. Khyalia, CEO of Adani Power, said, ”This LoA from MSEDCL reflects the competitiveness of Adani Power’s cost structure, our ability to deliver dependable baseload power, and our commitment to supporting India’s growing electricity needs through long-term partnerships. As India's leading private power producer, we are keen to support Maharashtra's and the nation's ambitious development goals with a reliable and affordable electricity supply.”

The contract adds to several long-term supply agreements secured by the company this financial year. Adani Power said it has won five such agreements in FY2025-26 with a combined capacity of 10,400 MW.

Following the award, the company said it has secured long-term power supply agreements for 13.3 GW out of its 23.8 GW capacity currently under implementation.

More than 95 percent of Adani Power’s operating capacity of about 18.15 GW is tied to medium-to-long-term power supply agreements. Over 55 percent of its upcoming capacity pipeline has also been secured under 25-year contracts, the company said.

The MSEDCL tender includes a pre-determined coal linkage to support long-term fuel supply and ensure stable electricity generation.

Adani Power plans to expand its generation capacity to 41.87 GW by FY2031-32 from the current 18.15 GW as part of a capital expenditure programme estimated at about 2 trillion rupees. The expansion aims to meet rising electricity demand driven by economic growth, urbanisation and industrial development.
