Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL) has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Adani Green Energy Ltd. (AGEL) for the procurement of 400 MW of solar power at a competitive tariff of INR 2.57 per unit.
The PPA was executed through AGEL’s wholly-owned step-down subsidiary Adani Green Energy Sixty Nine Ltd. on May 3, 2025.
The grid-connected solar plant to supply this power is to be developed in the state of Rajasthan. The plant is expected to be scheduled for commissioning by June 2027.
“This significant step aligns with UPPCL’s commitment toward clean, sustainable, and cost-effective energy for Uttar Pradesh and also in compliance to the RPO trajectory of MoP,” noted UPPCL.
Last month, Adani Green Energy’s subsidiary, Adani Hydro Energy Five, signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL) for 1,250 MW of pumped hydro energy storage capacity.
AGEL develops, owns, and operates utility-scale grid-connected solar, wind, hybrid and hydro-pumped storage renewable power plants across 12 states. The company reported a 30 percent year-on-year increase in operational capacity, reaching 14.2 GW in FY25. As per the company's filing, an additional 1 GW is currently nearing completion, which will take the total operational capacity to 15.2 GW.
Further, AGEL plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio to 50 GW by 2030 through a combination of solar, wind, hybrid, and pumped storage projects. It is also increasing its focus on commercial and industrial (C&I) and merchant segments. The expansion is supported by a USD 3.4 billion revolving construction facility.
